Three common money blocks for business owners
Money mindset affects how you price, sell, spend, and grow. These three beliefs can quietly shape your decisions, even when they feel like objective facts.
The belief
“People won’t pay that much.”
Try this instead: The right clients will invest in what they value.
The belief
“Making money means I’m taking from someone else.”
Try this instead: When I charge fairly, I create better results for myself and my clients.
The belief
“I have to work harder to make more money.”
Try this instead: I make more when I work smarter, not harder.
Money blocks are beliefs about earning, charging, spending, receiving, or keeping money that can limit the choices you make in your business. They often sound practical on the surface, but they can lead to underpricing, avoiding sales, overworking, or building a business that never feels financially secure.
You do not have to force yourself into constant positivity or ignore real financial constraints. Overcoming money blocks begins by noticing the thought influencing a decision, examining whether it is useful and accurate, and practicing a more supportive belief.
How money mindset affects business decisions
Your thoughts about money influence the actions you are willing to take. If you believe customers will reject your price, you may lower it before anyone responds. If earning feels greedy, you may avoid invitations to buy. If income seems tied only to effort, you may keep adding hours instead of improving the offer or system.
These choices affect revenue, but they also affect your experience of running the business. A pattern of apologizing, avoiding, or overworking can make entrepreneurship feel much heavier than it needs to feel.
How to overcome three common money blocks
1. “People won’t pay that much”
This belief often appears when you raise a price, present a new offer, or say the investment aloud. It treats rejection as inevitable before the right potential clients have had an opportunity to understand the result.
Price and value are connected, but they are not identical. Clear positioning helps people understand the problem you solve, the outcome you support, and why that outcome matters. Instead of describing only sessions, hours, or deliverables, explain the meaningful change the client is working toward.
Supportive belief: The right clients will invest in what they value.
2. “Making money means I’m taking from someone else”
A fair sale is an exchange. A customer chooses to invest in help, a solution, or a result, and the business receives money for providing that value. Both people should benefit from the agreement.
When guilt causes chronic undercharging, the business may have less capacity to deliver well, improve its services, or continue helping people. Fair pricing supports the owner and creates the resources needed for strong client work.
Supportive belief: When I charge fairly, I create better results for myself and my clients.
3. “I have to work harder to make more money”
Effort matters, but more hours are not the only path to more revenue. Pricing, systems, delegation, automation, offer design, and repeatable delivery can all change the relationship between time and income.
Look for work that is unnecessarily manual, duplicated, or disconnected from the result customers value. Simplifying one process may create more capacity than squeezing another task into an already full schedule.
Supportive belief: I make more when I work smarter, not harder.
A practical process for changing a money belief
- Notice the thought.Write down the exact sentence appearing when you price, sell, spend, or review your numbers.
- Identify the business behavior.Ask what you do, delay, avoid, or overcomplicate when you believe that thought.
- Challenge the assumption.Look for evidence, exceptions, and a more complete interpretation of the situation.
- Choose a believable replacement.Use a supportive thought you can practice without pretending every concern has disappeared.
- Take one aligned action.Say the price, improve the offer language, review the numbers, or simplify the process.
Money mindset work still needs practical business strategy
A new belief cannot repair an unclear offer, inaccurate financial records, or pricing that does not support delivery. Mindset and strategy work together. Use your beliefs to make clearer decisions, then support those decisions with customer research, useful offers, sound numbers, and repeatable systems.
When a financial concern is factual, address the facts. When fear is predicting an outcome without evidence, treat the prediction as a thought you can examine rather than a command you must obey.
The way you think about money shapes the way you earn, price, and grow.
Your action step
Choose one money belief from this episode and practice its replacement this week:
- Write down the old belief and the business situation that triggers it.
- Choose the supportive replacement that feels most useful.
- Take one action that matches the new belief.
- Notice what changes in your confidence, behavior, or result.
Questions about overcoming money blocks
What is a money block in business?
A money block is a belief or emotional pattern that limits how you earn, price, sell, spend, receive, or manage money. It may contribute to behaviors such as undercharging, avoiding offers, overworking, or delaying financial decisions.
How do I identify my money blocks?
Notice the thoughts that appear when you discuss prices, invite a sale, receive money, spend on the business, or review financial numbers. Write down the exact thought and the behavior that follows it. Repeated patterns often reveal the underlying belief.
How can I feel more confident saying my prices?
Clarify the outcome and value of the offer, confirm that the price supports responsible delivery, and practice saying the number without apologizing or immediately explaining it away. Confidence often grows through repetition rather than arriving before you begin.
Does making more money require working more hours?
Not necessarily. Revenue can also grow through stronger pricing, clearer offers, better systems, automation, delegation, repeatable delivery, and work that is more closely connected to customer value.
Is money mindset enough to grow a business?
No. Supportive beliefs make strategic action easier, but growth also requires useful offers, customer understanding, financial clarity, consistent visibility, and effective systems. Mindset and practical business strategy work best together.

Hey there, and welcome to episode 12 of Your Fun and Profitable Online Business. If you’re ready for some smart money strategies, you’re in the right place.
How money mindset affects your business
Today, we’re talking about a topic near and dear to my heart, money mindset. Specifically, it’s the way that people think about money because it impacts everything, from their pricing to their sales to how they even feel about their business. If you’ve ever struggled with charging your value or feeling guilty about making money or worrying that you’ll never make enough, this episode’s for you. All right, let’s break down how to shift your money mindset so you can start actually enjoying the money you make.
Your money beliefs influence business decisions
I’m gonna be a little direct here, but your thoughts about money shapes the way you run your business. I see this so many times. People think that money mindset has nothing to do with what they’re doing, and it has everything to do with all the decisions they’re making and the details that they’re running in between. And what’s really cool is it can change. You’re not stuck with your money mindset as it is today. Now, I’m not going to talk about manifesting. I know sometimes money mindset and manifesting kind of do an intersection. And if manifesting is your jam, high five, like I have no judgment. It’s just not what I’m going to talk about. I really focus on your thoughts and feelings as it pertains to money, because that is something I know very, very well, and there’s some strategies to help overcome it. Let’s talk about some examples of how this impacts your business. This could be if you feel guilty charging higher prices. You’ll continue to undercharge. Or if you think sales are pushy or uncomfortable, you’ll avoid making offers and wonder why no one is buying. Or if you believe that making money is hard, you could create a business that feels like a struggle constantly. But here’s the good news. Money is just a tool in the whole process. And when you change how you think about money, you change what’s possible in your life and in your business. I wanna go over the three biggest money mindset blocks entrepreneurs face that I hear often and how to shift them.
Money block 1: People will not pay that much
Block number one, people won’t pay that much. I’ll be honest, I said this at the beginning too. Someone suggested what I charge with my hourly rate and I literally laughed at them. I realized they were right on. I just had to get up to that speed. Now, if you’ve ever hesitated to raise your prices because you’re afraid no one will pay, you’re not alone. If you’ve hesitated to say your prices out loud, you’re not alone. But here’s the truth. Price isn’t the issue. It’s the value that you bring to the table that’s the issue. People will pay for things that they see as valuable. And if your pricing feels off, it’s not always about the number. It’s about how clearly you’re communicating the transformation you’re offering. Here, I suggest this shift. Instead of saying, no one will pay that much, try, the right clients will invest in what they value. What’s the next best step to adopt this belief? Look at your offer or your offers. Are you focusing on the outcome your client will receive or just the features? Make sure your copy and your pricing reflect the transformation, not just your time and effort. I’ve said it before, time and effort is a good place to start to figure out what you’re going to do with your pricing. But now you’re on the stage of your business that you don’t have to do that anymore. You’re now going to start talking about the transformation and you’re going to set your pricing as a reflection of the transformation.
Money block 2: Making money means taking from someone else
Mindset block number two, making money means I’m taking from someone else. Sometimes entrepreneurs and especially women feel weird about making money. I respect it. We’ve been told our whole lives that money is greedy and And if we make too much, we’re part of the problem and all these other things. But then that causes us to worry if we charge more or if we charge a livable wage, we’re somehow taking it away from other people. But here’s the truth. Money is just an exchange of energy. And it flows. As we allow our energy to flow, hey, I’m going to give you a little bit of my time. You’re going to give me some of your money. That’s just the energy exchange there. and we can kind of take the money out of the equation and allow that energy exchange, if you wanna call it that, be the part that we’re charging for. When someone pays you, they’re not just giving you money. They’re investing in a solution, a transformation, and a result. And when you charge that in alignment with your value, both of you win in this scenario. So here I suggest this shift. Instead of saying, making money means I’m taking from someone else, maybe try, when I charge fairly, I create better results for myself and for my clients. What’s the next best step to get to that belief? Write down three ways your work makes your client’s lives easier, better, or more successful. And you can then see your work as a gift because it is. It’s a gift that people need.
Money block 3: I have to work harder to earn more
All right, mindset block number three. I have to work harder to make more money. This is the number one thing I hear again and again and again. And there’s this belief that the only way to make money in your business is to work really hard. More hours, more hustle, more exhaustion. But that’s just not the truth, my friend. Money in the business world comes from aligned pricing, smart systems, and scalable offers, not just working yourself to burnout. So here’s what I recommend for this shift. Instead of saying, I have to work harder to make more, try, I make more when I work smarter, not harder. I make more when I work smarter, not harder. What’s the next best step to get to this belief? Look at your business. Where are you ever working? Where could you raise your prices or automate or delegate or simplify instead of just grinding harder? You don’t have to work harder to make money and to be successful, I promise you.
Choose one money mindset shift to practice
All right, let’s get to your action step for today. I want you to choose one, only one mindset shift from this episode and apply it this week. Again, those are the right clients that will invest in what they value. Number two, when I charge fairly, I create better results for myself and my clients. Or number three, I make more when I work smarter, not harder. Just pick one of those. And as you hear yourself say, oh, I’ve got to work harder or, oh, no one’s going to pay this or I’m not charging right. Whatever it is, pick one of these beliefs and just insert it in there. You need to get to the place where you can just feel at ease. This money thing doesn’t have to be hard. If you’ve been struggling with how to charge more, practice saying your prices with confidence. Say it in front of the mirror, say it to your dog, say it to your partner. Doesn’t matter who, say it. Now, I’ve got a $9 offer for this called Pricing with Confidence.
