Understand why waiting for perfection keeps entrepreneurs stuck in planning mode

[0:06] Hey there, and welcome to episode 10 of your fun and profitable online business. I’m Wendy Muzzy, a money coach and online business strategist, and I help women entrepreneurs stop overcomplicating things and start taking action. If you’re ready for real talk on how to make things happen, you’re in the right place. Today, we’re talking about imperfect action, the kind of bold focus steps that move your business forward fast. If you’ve ever felt stuck, second-guessed yourself, or spent too much time overthinking instead of actually doing it, this episode’s for you. All right, let’s get to it. First, let’s start talking about what imperfect action isn’t. It isn’t working 24-7. It isn’t burning yourself out. And it surely isn’t hustling. Imperfect action means taking that first step toward your goals, being intentional with your focus, and testing things in real-time. Instead of waiting for things to be, air quotes, perfect, It’s creating more momentum that makes success inevitable. Remember, we’re building fun and profitable businesses here. And this is what separates those who dream about success from those who actually make it happen.

Learn the four-step framework to take decisive action without overwhelming yourself

[1:17] All right, let’s break down how to take action without overwhelm in four steps. Step one, get clear on where you want to go. Before you take action, you need to know exactly what you’re working towards. Here you may ask yourself, what’s one thing that will really move the needle in my business this month? Or maybe you reverse engineer it. What’s the result I wanna see in the next 30 days? Here you pick one business goal to focus on. You don’t need to try to do all the things at once because you’ll dilute your energy and you’ll slow yourself down. You decide on what you’re working towards and you commit to making it happen. All right, step two. Here you put your blinders on. You tune out all the shiny objects, because there are thousands of them around us, and you tune out what your friends are doing because here, action requires focus. This means no more over-consuming content instead of creating. It doesn’t mean endless tweaking and perfecting, and it’s not waiting until you feel ready. Listen, I’m talking to you if you’ve been sitting on an idea for months. Let’s say it’s an offer. It’s time to stop researching and start selling. You’ll learn more in one launch than six months of planning, I promise you. Now, if this feels like too big of a step, set a time limit for decisions. Maybe you give yourself 48 hours to finalize your new offer, and then you launch it. If it flops, figure out what didn’t work. Make those changes and try again. If you need a reminder that all business is an experiment, go listen to episode seven. All right. Step three, take immediate, bold action. Once you’ve set your goal and you’ve eliminated distractions, it’s time to go all in. Maybe instead of planning to tell anyone about your launch for three months, announce it today and start building a waitlist. I’ll get personal here. This summer, I’m launching a community for women business owners to build their fun and profitable online businesses. I don’t have all the ideas fleshed out yet, but if you want to get on the wait list for this amazing opportunity, go to funandprofitable.com. Also, I see so much effort in making sales pages just right. If you’re in that boat, share your offer through your connections first. This could be social media, maybe it’s your email list, or maybe if it’s even your podcast. Whatever your case is, commit to doing one bold action today that moves you forward. Send that email, make an offer, or pitch yourself to a podcast. Just do something.

Discover how to gain clarity through action rather than endless planning

[3:57] All right, step five, embrace speed and imperfection. Most people wait until everything feels perfect, but that’s why they stay stuck. Here’s the truth. Action creates clarity. You’ll learn way faster by doing than by thinking about doing. Here’s a prime example. Let’s say you want to create a course. Don’t spend six months recording and organizing and outlining and everything else. Sell it first. Have an idea where you want to get them. Have some ideas outlined and fleshed out, but sell it. Beta test it. Try it out with some people. Create as you go through live calls and improve it based on real-time feedback. Now, the right people will know that you’re testing this. You’re not trying to be deceitful. You’re not trying to hide. You’re not trying to like, pretend that you have all your stuff together. No, you’re trying it before you go. Now, I will say if you hear resistance as you hear me talking about this, I get it. I feel resistant sometimes too. And in those spaces, ask yourself, what’s the next best step that I can take today to move me closer to my goal? Then go do it. You don’t have to think about all the pieces, just the next thing that you can do to get to where you want to be. Once you make that happen, think of the next best step that you can take. And so on and so on. Remember, you don’t have to climb the whole mountain here. You just need to take the next step, friend, and you’ve got this.

See real examples of imperfect action that can transform your business results

[5:28] Okay, let’s get to your action step for today. I want you to take one imperfect action towards your big goal. Go announce your offer. Go raise your rates. Go send that pitch. Start selling instead of tweaking. No more waiting, no more overthinking, just do it. If you need accountability, send me a message on LinkedIn and tell me about it. I’d love to celebrate your action and maybe even send you a confetti cannon, not like a real one, like a video of one. but I would totally love to celebrate with you. Imperfect action is the key to getting results faster. The more you do, the more you learn, and the closer you get to your goals. And if you want some help taking action on your offers, book a call with me at wendymuzzy.com. All right, see you next time, and happy action-taking, friend.
