[0:06] Hi, and welcome to episode 12 of Your Fun and Profitable Online Business. I’m Wendy Muzzy, a money coach and business strategist, and I help women entrepreneurs make money, build confidence, and throw a little confetti while they do it. If you’re ready for some smart money strategies, you’re in the right place. Today, we’re talking about a topic near and dear to my heart, money mindset.
Understand how your money mindset affects every aspect of your business decisions
[0:29] Specifically, it’s the way that people think about money because it impacts everything, from their pricing to their sales to how they even feel about their business. If you’ve ever struggled with charging your value or feeling guilty about making money or worrying that you’ll never make enough, this episode’s for you. All right, let’s break down how to shift your money mindset so you can start actually enjoying the money you make. I’m gonna be a little direct here, but your thoughts about money shapes the way you run your business. I see this so many times. People think that money mindset has nothing to do with what they’re doing, and it has everything to do with all the decisions they’re making and the details that they’re running in between. And what’s really cool is it can change. You’re not stuck with your money mindset as it is today. Now, I’m not going to talk about manifesting. I know sometimes money mindset and manifesting kind of do an intersection. And if manifesting is your jam, high-five, like I have no judgment. It’s just not what I’m going to talk about. I really focus on your thoughts and feelings as it pertains to money, because that is something I know very, very well, and there are some strategies to help overcome it. Let’s talk about some examples of how this impacts your business. This could be if you feel guilty about charging higher prices. You’ll continue to undercharge. Or if you think sales are pushy or uncomfortable, you’ll avoid making offers and wonder why no one is buying. Or if you believe that making money is hard, you could create a business that feels like a constant struggle. But here’s the good news. Money is just a tool in the whole process. And when you change how you think about money, you change what’s possible in your life and in your business.
Learn to identify and overcome the three biggest money blocks holding entrepreneurs back
[2:17] I wanna go over the three biggest money mindset blocks entrepreneurs face that I hear often and how to shift them. Block number one, people won’t pay that much. I’ll be honest, I said this at the beginning too. Someone suggested what I charge with my hourly rate and I literally laughed at them. I realized they were right on. I just had to get up to that speed. Now, if you’ve ever hesitated to raise your prices because you’re afraid no one will pay, you’re not alone. If you’ve hesitated to say your prices out loud, you’re not alone. But here’s the truth. Price isn’t the issue. It’s the value that you bring to the table that’s the issue. People will pay for things that they see as valuable. And if your pricing feels off, it’s not always about the number. It’s about how clearly you’re communicating the transformation you’re offering. Here, I suggest this shift. Instead of saying, that no one will pay that much, try, the right clients will invest in what they value. What’s the next best step to adopt this belief? Look at your offer or your offers. Are you focusing on the outcome your client will receive or just the features? Make sure your copy and your pricing reflect the transformation, not just your time and effort. I’ve said it before, time and effort is a good place to start to figure out what you’re going to do with your pricing. But now you’re on the stage of your business that you don’t have to do that anymore. You’re now going to start talking about the transformation and you’re going to set your pricing as a reflection of the transformation. Mindset block number two, making money means I’m taking from someone else. Sometimes entrepreneurs and especially women feel weird about making money. I respect it. We’ve been told our whole lives that money is greedy and if we make too much, we’re part of the problem and all these other things. But then that causes us to worry if we charge more or if we charge a livable wage, we’re somehow taking it away from other people. But here’s the truth. Money is just an exchange of energy. And it flows. As we allow our energy to flow, hey, I’m going to give you a little bit of my time. You’re going to give me some of your money. That’s just the energy exchange there. and we can kind of take the money out of the equation and allow that energy exchange if you wanna call it that, be the part that we’re charging for. When someone pays you, they’re not just giving you money. They’re investing in a solution, a transformation, and a result. And when you charge that in alignment with your value, both of you win in this scenario. So here I suggest this shift. Instead of saying, that making money means I’m taking from someone else, maybe try, when I charge fairly, I create better results for myself and for my clients. What’s the next best step to get to that belief? Write down three ways your work makes your client’s lives easier, better, or more successful. And you can then see your work as a gift because it is. It’s a gift that people need. All right, mindset block number three. I have to work harder to make more money. This is the number one thing I hear again and again and again. And there’s this belief that the only way to make money in your business is to work really hard. More hours, more hustle, more exhaustion. But that’s just not the truth, my friend. Money in the business world comes from aligned pricing, smart systems, and scalable offers, not just working yourself to burnout. So here’s what I recommend for this shift. Instead of saying, I have to work harder to make more, try, I make more when I work smarter, not harder. I make more when I work smarter, not harder. What’s the next best step to get to this belief? Look at your business. Where are you ever working? Where could you raise your prices or automate or delegate or simplify instead of just grinding harder? You don’t have to work harder to make money and to be successful, I promise you.

[6:19] All right, let’s get to your action step for today. I want you to choose one, only one mindset shift from this episode and apply it this week. Again, those are the right clients that will invest in what they value. Number two, when I charge fairly, I create better results for myself and my clients. Or number three, I make more when I work smarter, not harder. Just pick one of those. And as you hear yourself say, oh, I’ve got to work harder or, oh, no one’s going to pay this or I’m not charging right. Whatever it is, pick one of these beliefs and just insert it in there. You need to get to the place where you can just feel at ease. This money thing doesn’t have to be hard. If you’ve been struggling with how to charge more, practice saying your prices with confidence. Say it in front of the mirror, say it to your dog, say it to your partner. Doesn’t matter who, say it. Now, I’ve got a $9 offer for this called Pricing with Confidence. You can go find it over at wendymuzzy.com/everything. Your money mindset is one of the biggest factors in your business success. The way you think about money shapes the way you earn, price, and grow. And the best part, you have the power to change your beliefs and create a business that supports you. These small shifts will definitely add up. One change today leads to big results over time. If you love this episode, go subscribe, leave a review, and share it.
